DAY ONE
8:00am: I bolt upright in bed with the sudden, crushing realization that my husband’s 40th birthday is in exactly seven days. The same milestone birthday I promised to plan "something amazing" for. The same birthday that, as of this moment, has zero reservations, zero plans, and zero chill from me.
8:05am: I scramble to my laptop, fingers flying as I search for last-minute party venues. Everything is either booked or astronomically priced. I panic text my best friend, who responds with an unhelpful "Girl, WTF were you thinking?"
12:30pm: Midway through an anxiety-fueled doom-scroll, I remember, omg, I have Duckbill! I fire off a desperate request: "Help me plan an unforgettable 40th birthday party in Austin for my husband next Saturday. Budget flexible but not ridiculous."
3:00pm: A notification pops up from Duckbill. They've found three venue options with availability. One even has a built-in whiskey tasting experience. I blink at my phone in awe. Is this what it feels like to have your life together?
DAY TWO
9:00am: Duckbill has now provided catering recommendations, custom cocktail ideas, and even entertainment suggestions ranging from a live band to a roaming magician. I tell them I want something fun but not cringe. They axe the magician.
12:00pm: Invites! I totally forgot about those. Duckbill didn’t - they sent me options for immediate tweaking and sending. I pick one, slap on some celebratory and loving words, and hit send. Done.
DAY THREE
10:00am: A new thought terrorizes me: What if no one comes? It's such last-minute notice. Duckbill assures me that, based on the RSVPs they helped track, we’re looking at 40+ attendees. Crisis averted.
2:00pm: They suggest an "Embarrass the Birthday Boy" slideshow. I give them access to my chaotic Google Photos folder, and they curate a tasteful yet hilarious highlight reel of my husband's most iconic moments.
DAY FIVE
6:00pm: Duckbill sends a final checklist: Venue? Confirmed. Food? Ordered. Drinks? Flowing. Entertainment? Booked. Decor? Delivered. I stare at my phone, stunned. Did I just plan an entire milestone birthday in under a week without losing my mind?
DAY SEVEN
8:00pm: The party is in full swing. My husband, utterly oblivious to my last-minute panic, is having the time of his life. There’s laughter, music, and just the right amount of whiskey. A friend compliments my planning skills, and I accept with a knowing smile.
9:30pm: As the slideshow plays, my husband groans at his 90s bowl cut phase, and I mentally thank Duckbill for their discretion. This might be the best party I’ve ever pulled off. Scratch that, this is the ONLY party I’ve ever pulled off. And it actually worked.
11:00pm: As I fall into bed, exhausted but victorious, I realize I might just start using Duckbill for things before they become emergencies. Or at least, like, a day before.
