What a start to 2025 it’s been… It seems so long ago that we were able to experience the holidays and wind down. It gave us the rare opportunity to pause and reflect. Days blurred together, creating space to ask: "What now?"

That moment of space can be uncomfortable at first, especially when our day-to-day lives are usually buzzing with work, life admin, and familial responsibilities that we don’t have a moment to pause. But once the discomfort eases, the pause lets us focus on what really matters to us.

This chance to pause often leads to choices to sleep in, rest, exercise, organize, savor quality time with your friends and family, or plan something spontaneous. These moments reveal a deeper longing embedded in many New Year’s resolutions: the desire to spend your time on what truly matters.

So after a particularly busy January, how do we get back to that place? How do we reconnect with our desire to spend time on what truly matters?

By now, that desire is long forgotten by most people, buried by our long to-do list of responsibilities:

According to a Forbes 2024 study:

  • Only 8% of resolutions last beyond one month

  • 22% make it to three months

  • Only 1% said their New Year’s resolution lasted for the entire year

But, all hope is not lost. Yes, we’re already a month into the year, but it’s never too late to start honoring your needs. The best day to start is, always, today.

Yes, statistically by this time of year, most people have given up on their resolutions. But, whether it’s January 1st or June 1st, it is never too late to reclaim how you want to spend your time:

Give yourself permission to outsource, and to leverage tools to take care of tasks. This will allow you to focus on prioritizing your happiness, choosing to bring joy to your everyday life now–and serve as an investment in your future well-being, too.

  • Use the 30 minutes you would have spent stressed out on hold with your doctor's office to do a quick 30-minute home workout instead.

  • Take the hour you would have been digging the internet for your kid's perfect summer camp, and go on a family walk together.

  • Spend the 45 minutes you would have spent arguing for a refund on your canceled flight instead dreaming about where you want to go next. Use the tools at your fingertips (like Duckbill!) to invest in yourself and focus on what brings you joy.

Let this be the year you actually prioritize what truly matters—and stick to it.
