This may be the worst advice you can give a person with ADHD:

“Keep a notebook on your bedside table. Before you go to sleep, jot down everything that's on your mind—tasks, worries, reminders. Clear your mind by putting them down on paper!”

Well, not this mind. I could start that list, fall into hyperfocus, and look up half an hour later. Then I'd be mad at myself for wasting sleep time.

In the morning, I’d be exhausted and the list would be there- and most of all, the question would be begging:” How am I going to get all of this done?”

I didn't need another to-do list app to try, or another system to manage and try to fit into my life; I needed real help.

Hello, Duckbill.

Later, midnight lists.

Duckbill's approach is unique because it combines expert humans with AI technology. The AI works behind the scenes, enhancing human interactions rather than replacing them.

This means my copilot can handle everything from scheduling doctor and massage appointments to researching care providers for my parents, all while ensuring tasks are completed with a personal touch—like an avenging angel.

This is how I do it: simply dump tasks and details via text, email, or Duckbill’s app, and behold, something actually happens (and things actually get done!):

  • Daily life rescue: Stuck on a Zoom when I remember there's no milk or much else in the fridge, with no time or energy to shop. Boom: same-day grocery delivery arranged—complete with a screenshot of my abandoned Aldi cart.

  • Tasks for later: Not ready to tackle something yet? Duckbill's snooze option lets me postpone tasks without losing them to the void of forgetfulness. When I'm ready, there it is—no shame, no forgotten deadlines, and all of the details I thought to include a few weeks ago are still there.

  • Travel planning: Holiday travel can be true chaos, but so can a regular long weekend trip in the off season! What a gift to have someone else research all the options, deals, and schedules, and coordinate itineraries for my review.

  • Professional support: When I finally gave up wrestling with formatting and needed a book designer, Duckbill researched and priced options in hours instead of weeks, perfectly preparing me to meet with someone local who turned out to be exactly who I needed.

  • Being a better friend: I love when people remember my birthday and delight in hearing from someone I haven't seen in ages. So I exported everyone's birthdays from Facebook—and then did nothing about it. Oops! Duckbill got them all on my calendar, and reminded me ahead of time to send a text, card, or send a gift. My best kept secret is now out!

  • Bureaucratic battles: For me, the filthiest word may be “bureaucracy.” Ugh! Tax ID numbers, passport renewals, citizenship documentation—these tasks loomed over me like storm clouds until I had support navigating them, including reminders when I hadn't responded to what I needed to provide for the next step.

  • Staying one step ahead: What feels like a ‘love language’ is how Duckbill suggests additional helpful tasks once I've completed something. "You've booked your flight—would you like me to research transportation options from the airport?" It's not just cool; it feels like someone is genuinely putting me first. I’m getting verklempt.

But above all, one of the most unexpected benefits of using Duckbill has been how it's improved my relationships—not just with others, but also with myself.

It's helped me see just how much energy “masking” my ADHD consumed, how typical daily conversations felt like performances where I had to appear “with it” to avoid disappointing people or (shudder) being called out as incompetent or lazy.

I'm learning to ask for help without (well, with less) shame and guilt.

And I'm realizing that ADHD doesn't mean you're doomed to drown in chaos—it just means you need solutions that work with how your brain works, just as people with all kinds of neural differences do.

So, if you find that bedside list to be a benefit —well, I love that for you.

But whether you have ADHD, are overwhelmed by a demanding job, managing family responsibilities, or simply value your time too much to spend it on tasks that drain your energy, Duckbill offers something revolutionary: the freedom to focus on what matters, whether that's your creative work, relationships, or simply being present,  real-time, in your own life.
